Amanda was born into homelessness, during her elementary and secondary education. She went to over 25 schools, experienced human sex trafficking, physical, emotional, and verbal abuse. Growing up Amanda experienced a perpetual state of "flight or freeze."
Two unique qualities about Amanda is her resilience and altruism. When Amanda was 15-years old she ran away from Ohio and hitchhiked to Georgia in an attempt to protect herself from adults that did not see her as a human being, let alone a minor. Despite her beginning, Amanda’s resilience to finish high school and to later go on to college and graduate not once, not twice but to earn a master’s degree with honors depicts determination and strength indeed! Amanda’s altruism in that regardless of one’s beginning and experience, you can overcome; with positive and compassionate support.
Amanda holds a master’s degree from the Ohio State University College of Social Work and is a licensed social worker. Her daily privilege is providing support for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human sex trafficking. It is her heartbeat that every human being lives in a home free from the fear of violence and that every human being is provided with their basic needs for survival on this journey of life without judgment.
Amanda has been a dedicated Outreach Minister since 2000, focusing on serving individuals aged 65 and older, particularly those who are sick and immobile. Her commitment to providing spiritual empowerment and support has profoundly impacted this community. In 2020, Amanda expanded her mission to include people experiencing homelessness, further demonstrating her God-centered approach to service. Through her efforts, she aims to uplift and empower both seniors and those in need, fostering hope and connection within the community.
Let’s connect to learn how you can contribute and make impact.
Amanda is proof that just one person demonstrating compassion without judgment allowed her the confidence to believe that she could achieve more. Amanda connected with a community social agency that provided an ear
without judgment and positive consistent support. Having positive support in the community is why Amanda does what she does today.
Everyone is worthy of the basic survival needs to thrive and it is Amanda's belief that each of us has the responsibility to; demonstrate compassion for others, bear one another’s burden, give when you have it to give, and to visit those that are sick and imprisoned.
